MDI Denture Stabilization

MDI (Mini Dental Implants) Denture Stabilization is the process of placing small dental implants in a patient's mouth in order to help stabilize their lower dentures. The procedure is less invasive than full size implants and also are more affordable.

MDI implants do not generally require any incisions to be made, and can usually be completed within a 2 hour time frame.

Root Canals

If an infection occurs in the root of a tooth, Dr. Gengo may need to perform root canal therapy. A root canal is generally completed within a single visit.

The procedure involves first numbing the area around the tooth so that no pain is felt. Once the area is numb, Dr. Gengo will begin to drill a small hole into your tooth. When the hole is complete he will remove the nerve from the tooth, as well as any infected tissue. Then when he has removed all of the infected tissue, he will dry the inside of the tooth and fill it with a rubber material. This will seal the inside of the tooth.

Next, Dr. Gengo will decide whether to put on a temporary filling or a permanent filling. A crown is always recommended after root canal therapy. The crown will prevent the tooth from cracking and needing further repair.

Dental Implants

If you have lost a tooth for any reason– dental implants can make your mouth look new again!

Dental implants create a foundation for replacement teeth; the teeth look, feel and act just like natural teeth!

Dental implants are small titanium posts that have to be surgically placed in the patient's jawbone. The posts take on the job of acting as a root for the artificial teeth. By the use of dental implants, the rest of the patient's mouth structure is saved, avoiding any deterioration that could occur with missing teeth. Dental implants can take a few months to fully complete.

An extraction is simply the removal of a tooth. Extractions can be necessary for a variety of reasons including:

  • Tooth decay
  • Fractured teeth
  • Extra teeth are blocking other teeth from growing in
  • Problem teeth - such as wisdom teeth

Bridges & Crowns

Crowns are restorations that cover the entire tooth that has become badly damaged, while a bridge is a replacement tooth that is held down by a crown or natural teeth on both sides.

A crown is needed when a tooth is too severely damaged and can no longer be fixed by a filling or other dental procedure. Crowns can be made of different materials, and Dr. Gengo will decide what best suits your case.

There are a few different types of bridges including, a fixed bridge, a cantilever bridge and a removable bridge. Depending on your situation, Dr. Gengo will decide whether or not a bridge is suitable for you.

Porcelain Veneers

Uses for veneers are to improve your appearance.  Veneers can be used to improve misaligned teeth, discolored teeth, close spaces between teeth, and repair teeth that are discolored, chipped, worn, or broken.

Veneers are very thin custom made shells of tooth-colored material that are designed to cover the front surface of the tooth. The procedure is pretty simple.  Dr. Gengo will remove about 1/2 millimeter of the tooth's surface.  Next, a model or impression will be taken of the tooth.  This is sent to a dental laboratory which constructs your veneer. It usually takes 7 to 10 days to receive it from the lab.  You will return to the office at this time to have the veneer cemented on!
